A lot of you have been asking us a few extra questions - allow us to explain ourselves!
Owning a dog is one of the greatest joys in life, but let’s be honest... sometimes, it feels more stressful than joyful.
When your dog pulls you down the street, barks at every leaf that blows past, or ignores you when you call, it can leave you frustrated, embarrassed, and even questioning if you’re doing enough for them.
You are not alone.
Many dog owners come to us feeling exactly the same way, and that’s where our 1:1 dog training sessions come in.

So, how does it work?
Sit Stay Play QLD are Brisbane dog trainers that completely tailor training to you and your dog. We support Brisbane, Ipswich, Centenary suburbs and surrounds.
No cookie-cutter classes where you’re lost in the crowd.
No generic advice that doesn’t apply to your situation.
Instead, we come to you (or meet via video if you prefer) and work through the exact
problems you’re facing, in the environments where they actually happen. This allows a comprehensive approach, where you can feel satisfied the core of the issue is being identified and rectified.
Some clients book us for help with foundational behaviours like loose-lead walking, recall, or teaching their dog to settle at home. Others need support with bigger challenges like reactivity, fearfulness, or separation anxiety. Whatever your struggle is, we design a step-by-step plan that’s achievable, kind, and works in real life - not just in theory.
If you’re experiencing the issue, there is a very high chance we have been a key player in solving the issue before. Just ask us!
Can I train more than one dog at a time in my sessions?
We keep it simple: training is charged per session, not per dog. That way, if you have more than one dog, or even a cat who likes to be part of the action, we can work with your whole household.
Each session runs for about an hour, which gives us time to teach, practice, and troubleshoot without overwhelming your dog (or you!).
We also enjoy having the entire human family involved in training. Having children involved in training not only adds more hands to your dogs training schedule, but it inadvertently teaches children how to have polite and safe interactions with animals.
How many sessions should I book?
This depends on your goals and your dog’s learning style. Some clients see great results after just three sessions, while others prefer an ongoing package so they have consistent support.
Think of it like this: training is less about “fixing a problem in one go” and more about building new habits for both you and your dog. This can be an investment of time.
We’ll always be upfront about what your situation needs and won’t sell you more than necessary. Most clients find 3–5 sessions to be a sweet spot for meaningful change.
Do you train cats, too?
Yes! Cats can absolutely learn, and sometimes they need help adjusting to new routines, living with a dog, or breaking habits like scratching furniture or inappropriate toileting. Cats are certainly a different training style, and require extra patience and consistency. We do enjoy this challenge, though!

Questions you might be asking right now
“I’ve tried training before, and it didn’t work. why would this be different?”
Many owners feel disheartened after trying Google tips, less experienced trainers, group classes, or advice from friends. The difference with Sit Stay Play QLD is that we have extensive experience and qualifications with both dog and human training - just read our reviews.
Not only do we have 15 years of active experience in the field, we are qualified and Pet Professional Guild Australia endorsed - This matters.
We care about our human clients just as much as our dog clients, and have extended our education to encompass a post graduate in Psychology and Certificate 4 in Mental Health.
A humble brag is that we are qualified and experienced to identify and rectify issues from both sides - And this fully personalised approach is why our training finally sticks for both you and your dog.
“My dog is too old/too stubborn to learn, isn’t it too late?”
Absolutely not. Dogs of any age can learn new skills. In fact, older dogs often learn faster because they can focus more easily. What matters isn’t their age—it’s finding the right motivation and method that works for them.
"What if my dog embarrasses me in training?”
This is such a common worry. Many owners feel ashamed of their dog’s behaviour, especially if they bark, lunge, or ignore cues. Please know: we don’t judge. We’ve seen it all. Our role is to guide you with compassion, so you can move from embarrassment to pride in your dog. We have seen the shift, and we want you to feel this too.
"Will training really make my life easier?”
Yes. Imagine walking down the street with confidence in knowing how to manage your dog. Picture your dog coming back happily when you call. Think about enjoying visitors without chaos at the door. These aren’t just dreams—they’re achievable with the right support and consistency.
“What if I don’t have the time to train every day?”
We get it - you’re busy. That’s why our training plans are realistic. This is why we love our 1:1 sessions. We get to be in our clients environments and identify easy opportunities for training. We show you how to weave training into your daily life - on walks, during mealtimes, or even while watching TV. It IS possible, and with the right strategies you can see results. Training won’t be your whole life, but it will become a very valued part of your life! Check out our reviews from happy customers.
The Real Fix: Connection and Confidence
Training isn’t about controlling your dog. It’s about creating understanding, trust, and teamwork. When your dog listens to you because they want to, not because they’re forced to, you’ll feel more connected, proud, and confident as their owner. In return, your dog will feel calmer, safer, and happier in the world.
If you’re ready to stop stressing, stop guessing, and start enjoying life with your dog again, our 1:1 training is designed for you.
